Description

Brewed to the same recipe for over 100 years, Sixex is a dark and delicious strong ale with reams of rich, malty flavour.

Sixex pours a tempting dark mahogany with illuminating ruby highlights and a full, creamy head. With wafts of toasted malts, caramel and fruitcake, the use of rich crystal and dark malts lead to a distinct roasted flavour with hints of chocolate, toasted sugars and coffee.

This strong ale is a divine choice for the autumn and winter months – if you’ve got a cosy fire and comfy armchair at your disposal, you’re on to a winner. A consistent winner of top awards, Sixex is a true champion ale.

  6. Howard JONES (verified owner)

Of all the bottled beeeeers I’ve drunk since March 2020 this along with others I bought from Joseph Holt is the best. Great flavour, reminds me of being in the Hard and Hound Shudehill on my trips to Manchester.

  7. Alan Woodhead (verified owner)

    Dark,rich sharp tasting beer.
Lovely drink on a winter’s day.

  8. Graham DONNING (verified owner)

Excellent quality beer a tad disappointed there is no free delivery within, say, 3 miles of the brewery? If so, I would purchase more!

  9. David Dinsdale (verified owner)

Really good dark ale ,I found the taste rich and malty with a slight nutty taste. Ideal for winter evenings by the fire.

Love it, proper strong winter ale to savour. Definitely not a session beer, needs to be treated with respect.

  11. Michael Howe (verified owner)

A very attractive and tasty dark beer. Served cold from the fridge Joseph Holt has brewed a winner here. You would have to go a long way to beat this on taste.

Have it for breakfast dinner and tea if I could. It really is a great beer. It can catch up on you though
Thinking how lucky they are to live near Holt’s pub. Round here some pretentious places charge over £4.00 a pint and often it’s badly kept.

  20. Steve Bagnall (verified owner)

One of the best, if not the best beer I’ve tasted. Placed several orders over the last couple of years, however, slightly disappointed this time that despite getting the beer late in Jan ’22 the bbe date is only May ’22. Hopefully won’t impact the tast any !

  21. Stuart Petch (verified owner)

A perfect drink for those who like a strong full bodied pint.

  22. David Wood (verified owner)

Deep malty flavour in a strong ale. Really good with cheese and biscuits.
