Spin Doctor Campaign Launches

Joseph Holt is making headlines with a bold new campaign celebrating its award-winning lager, Spin Doctor. Drawing inspiration from the modern phenomenon of fake news, this tongue-in-cheek initiative brings together fun, prizes, and, of course, great beer.

Spin Doctor: A Lager That Needs No Spin

Spin Doctor took home a prestigious gold medal at last year’s International Brewing and Cider Awards, cementing its place among the world’s best lagers.

“In the world of politics, spin doctors are known as strategic players whose job it is to mess with facts and fiction to make things seem better than they really are,” said Joseph Holt marketing manager Paul Longmire. “Ironically, and in complete contrast, there’s nothing ‘spun’ about our Spin Doctor lager.”

“It has been indisputably acknowledged by industry giants as being the best in the world – a fact that doesn’t need hype or over-exaggeration. So we thought we’d play with this idea and launch a fun ‘news and nonsense’ campaign that both celebrates Spin Doctor lager and gives our customers the chance to win prizes, while at the same time poking fun at the world of fake news pushed by spin doctors.”

Fake News, Real Rewards

As part of the campaign, drinkers at Joseph Holt pubs can grab a spoof newspaper packed with humorous fake stories—think UFO sightings that turn out to be pigeons! The only genuine news? Spin Doctor’s well-deserved recognition and success.

Loyal customers can also get their hands on a Spin Doctor loyalty card at the bar, unlocking exciting rewards. For every six pints of Spin Doctor purchased, cardholders receive one free pint. Plus, they’ll be in with a chance to win incredible prizes, including a trip to Paris.

A Lager With a Story to Tell

To complement the campaign, Spin Doctor’s refreshed branding reflects the bold typography and colours of tabloid newspapers—adding another layer of playful satire.

With its crisp, quaffable character, this straw-coloured lager is a favourite among younger drinkers. A delicate balance of herbal notes with the fruity, refreshing hints of melon and peach from Australian hops makes Spin Doctor a standout choice. Read all about the flavour profile here.

“Our beers are very much badged as ‘unmistakably Northern’, not least since they are brewed in Manchester, where Joseph Holt was established 175 years ago, and which has been in the same family for six generations,” said Paul.

“So, we have been so thrilled that Spin Doctor has made such an impact on the world brewing stage. That’s an unmistakable fact — one which can’t be spun — and which we’re now celebrating by giving back to our customers and bringing some news and nonsense fun, too.”
