Popular Christmas Market Back At Chorlton Green For One Day Only
Nothing signals the countdown to the festive season like the magic of a Christmas market.
And on Saturday 10th December one corner of Chorlton will be a hub of sparkling yuletide activity as over 50 artisan stall holders gather on the green outside the Horse & Jockey pub.
Known as the Horse & Jockey/Independent Street Artisan Markets on the Green, this popular event is making a welcome return after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Not only will visitors get the opportunity to enjoy the finest local goods from award-winning producers, such as tasty pies and pasties, local gin, handmade textiles and home furnishings, but the market, which is being part run by the Joseph Holt pub in conjunction with the organisation Independent Street, will offer lots of yuletide attractions for all the family.
From the sweet sound of choirs singing favourite carols to the signature festive boom of local brass bands. Even reindeer Dancer and Blitzen will be making an appearance before their busy shift on Christmas Eve.
Pam Gaffney, Operations Support Manager for the Joseph Holt Brewery, says the event, which is taking place for one day only, is so much more than a Christmas market. It will, she says, bring the community together as well as give a boost to small independent businesses who may struggle in the current climate.
She said: ‘We have been busy planning a festive treat for the Chorlton community this Christmas and we are excited to bring back the Horse & Jockey Artisan Markets on the Green. It’s been a challenging year for us all so I hope this event will spread some festive cheer.”
Lisa Cowley from Independent Street adds, ”We are so excited to collaborate with the team at The Horse & Jockey. An event like this is a great way to showcase local talent. See you there.”
