Defibrillator Appeal at The Woodthorpe
Over the past 6 months at Joseph Holt, our staff and team members have been campaigning to raise money to purchase and install defibrillators in a wide selection of our pubs. We hope they never have to be used, but if they do, they will be available 24/7 to help save lives.
On the 2nd August, 21 of our top charitable raising pubs and people from the Brewery attended the Defibrillator Appeal Presentation at the Woodthorpe, which marked the final day of our fundraising campaign. During this 6 month appeal, we raised an incredible £53,126 across the business, surpassing our original target of £50,000!
During the presentation, Joanne and Fiona from the Northwest Ambulance Service took the stage to shed light on the critical importance of defibrillators. Joanne shared alarming statistics, revealing that 30,000 people experience cardiac arrests each year, with a survival rate hovering around 10%. The installation of 33 extra defibrillators in the North West region was celebrated and is only as a direct result of the incredible fundraising efforts of everyone involved.
Joanna from Northwest Ambulance Service thanked everyone in the room and everyone who fundraised for their invaluable contribution to the local communities we serve. We strive for our pubs to be a real force for good and this is another step to cement our Family Aim 10.
Our Pub Director Mr Mark Norbury spoke to the Bury Times in this article here, he mentions how our charity work and being the heart of the community is always a big focus point on everything we do day to day – “Can there be any better way to support the surrounding community than literally installing a device that could make a difference between life and death?”.
We’ve now got defibrillator’s stationed from Manchester to Blackpool, across the North West and surrounding areas, such as The Hair and Hounds in Bolton.
