Stillager/Warehouse Operative

Where: Empire St, Cheetham Hill, Manchester M3 1JD

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Drivers Mate (Stillager)/Warehouse Operative to join the team at Joseph Holt Ltd. Your normal working week will be Monday to Friday, working 40 hours. There may be a small amount of weekend and evening work at certain times of the year. This is a fast paced and exciting opportunity, where no two days are the same.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading the drays and ensuing that the correct stock is on the dray for each drop off
  • Delivering casks, kegs, packaged beer, wines and spirits to pubs, bars and Free Trade accounts
  • You are required to offload at each account, with the help of a 2nd man
  • You may be needed to stillage beer in some cellars
  • Collecting and returning empty containers to the Brewery
  • Safe loading of vehicles
  • Ensuring stock rotation is carried out correctly
  • Packing of home deliveries for deliveries and courier collection
  • Supporting Transport by driving the van to deliver beer, wines, spirits, and soft drinks to customers in the North West and beyond
  • Picking and Fulfilling orders – on time and in full for the next day’s delivery
  • Ensuring stock rotation of Joseph Holt and third-party products for distribution to our pubs and growing Free Trade.
  • Working closely with a range of stakeholders, including external customers to resolve questions and queries
  • Counting of full containers, empty containers, general stock in the warehouse with detailed record keeping
  • Ensuring an accurate stock control on all lines and adhering to First in First Out Principles
  • Optimum efficiency and accuracy are required at every stage in the warehouse and distribution system
  • General Warehouse duties
  • Ensuring that Company Health, Safety and Security standards are maintained
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping at all times

About you:

  • Hold a full UK Driving licence.
  • Possession of a valid Class 2 driving licence is also desirable or be willing to work towards gaining one through our apprenticeship scheme.
  • Ideally hold an in-date CPC qualification
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Can work well on your own or as part of a wider team
  • Have an awareness of Health and Safety
  • Enjoy a challenge and learning new skills
  • Reliable and flexible attitude to work
  • Hard working
  • Well organised and pays attention to detail
  • Good at multitasking with some problem solving
  • Able to organise own workload and get the job done
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with our pubs and free trade accounts

Joseph Holt is an independent, six-generation family-owned company, with 128 pubs across the Northwest, ranging from traditional community pubs, food led destination pubs and some with onsite letting rooms. Since 1849 we have been brewing a wide range of award-winning beers in our Manchester brewery, which have won 7 Gold Medals at the International Brewing Awards at the last 7 International Brewing Awards in the last 14 years alone. Alongside this, we have an ever-expanding Free Trade and sell beer to multiple types of accounts across the country.
