Joseph Holt

Charity

From our earliest days, we have always had a strong link with local charities. It must have been close to Joseph's heart to look out for those in need of a helping hand.

We are extremely proud to have a very long relationship with Manchester's world famous Christie Hospital.

It was back in 1914 that Sir Edward Holt donated the first £2,000 to help fund a new laboratory studying the use of radium to treat cancer. That commitment continued for 100 years as 2014 saw our Centenary Appeal for the Christie where we asked our pubs, staff and customers to help us raise £300,000. From the great support, we exceeded that target and achieved a staggering £402,000 when doubled by the Edward Holt Trust and Peter Kershaw Trust who has given enormous support for our appeal.

This year, we are proud to announce our support for Francis House Hospice who cares for over 370 sick children, teenagers and young adults with a short life expectancy. Providing support, friendship and short breaks of respite care for the whole family. The hospice needs over £ 3.6 million in donations each year to continue to provide its services which are all given completely free of charge and include home care, sibling support, and end of life care and bereavement support, all without any financial assistance from the government.

Our support continues. Joseph Holt has pledged to raise £50,000 for the charity. So please join the Joseph Holt Francis House Appeal. You can make a donation by visiting www.justgiving.com/JosephHolt-FrancisHouseAppeal
